Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announces independent presidential campaign
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a Democrat turned independent presidential candidate, is preparing to announce his pick for vice president, a move that will attract significant media attention and help Kennedy secure a spot on the ballot in all 50 states. Currently, Kennedy only has confirmed ballot access in Utah, but his campaign is working on securing access in New Hampshire, Hawaii, and beyond.
Although Kennedy’s poll numbers have been in the low double digits, he has been in talks with the Libertarian Party about a potential joint ticket in November. The Libertarian Party, historically able to secure ballot access in all 50 states, will choose its presidential ticket at its convention at the end of May. Kennedy’s criticism of mandatory vaccinations resonates with some Libertarians, but his support for Israel in conflict with Hamas may be a point of contention.
Despite the attention he is receiving, there are a number of candidates vying for the Libertarian Party nomination, indicating a competitive nature of the race. Kennedy’s flexibility in exploring different options and engaging with different parties reflects his strategic approach to the campaign.
