Body of Shooting Suspect Found
Kentucky State Police have reported that they have found the body believed to be that of Joseph A. Couch, the suspect who opened fire on an interstate highway, injuring five people earlier in the month. The body was discovered in the vicinity of exit 49 off Interstate 75 in Laurel County after a couple, Fred and Sheila McCoy, came across it while livestreaming for their YouTube account. The body is being sent to the coroner’s office for positive identification. Law enforcement officials have been searching the area since the shooting occurred on September 7th, and have recovered an AR-15 rifle and a small silver-colored SUV registered to Couch.
Significant Search Effort
The discovery of Couch’s body comes after a significant search effort by authorities, who have been working tirelessly to locate him. This development provides closure to the community and the victims of the shooting, as well as bringing a sense of relief to those involved in the search. The news also underscores the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and the public, as the couple’s alertness led to the discovery of the body. The shift in resources to the community by Gov. Andy Beshear and state police demonstrates the commitment to ensuring justice is served and the safety of the community is maintained.
