Lecce fires manager Robert D’Aversa for striking Verona attacker Thomas Henry
Lecce has sacked manager Robert D’Aversa for hitting Verona striker Thomas Henry after a 1-0 defeat. Both received red cards as tempers flared. D’Aversa described his actions as “unforgivable” and has been relieved of his duties. Lecce plummeted to 15th place in Serie A, just one point above the relegation zone. They have won only one of their last 12 league matches. D’Aversa was appointed last summer after stints at Virtus Lanciano, Parma, and Sampdoria.
