Power cut in Sri Lanka
Hospitals and businesses in Sri Lanka are currently using generators due to a nationwide power cut that started around 11:30. The Ceylon Electricity Board blames the outage on a monkey causing an imbalance in the system by coming into contact with a transformer. Engineers are working to restore power as quickly as possible.
This incident exposes the vulnerability of the country’s power infrastructure, which was previously affected by blackouts during a crisis in 2022. The power cut has had a major impact on daily life in the country, highlighting the need for a reliable electricity supply system.
