Bakari Sellers’ suggestion on CNN
Bakari Sellers suggested on CNN that Justice Sotomayor should step down before President Trump’s inauguration so that President Biden and the Democratic majority could appoint another liberal justice to the Supreme Court. Sellers argued that Sotomayor should not stay on the bench for too long like Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
He proposed the idea of Vice President Kamala Harris replacing Sotomayor on the court, sparking controversy and suggesting other potential candidates. Although Democrats are reportedly considering this idea, Sotomayor, Alito, and Thomas have not indicated any intention to retire.
Sellers emphasized the importance of ensuring a liberal majority on the court and encouraged Biden to take bold actions in the coming weeks.
