South Korea sends military and public health doctors to hospitals affected by doctor interns strike
Military surgeons and public health doctors will support 20 hospitals over the course of four weeks. Doctor interns went on strike on February 20 to protest against plans to increase enrollment in medical schools. Some hospitals had to turn away patients and postpone procedures.
The government is threatening to suspend the medical licenses of striking doctors. More than 4,900 doctor interns have received administrative warnings. The government is urging doctors to return to work to avoid punishment. Most of the survey respondents support more doctors, but some believe that striking doctors should be seriously punished.
