Maya Bay Closure
Maya Bay, the world-renowned paradise on the Thai island of Ko Phi Phi, will be closed for two months due to excessive tourism, aiming to preserve the fragile ecosystem. The closure includes two other bays, prompted by reports of devastating coral bleaching in the area. This measure follows years of damage caused by mass tourism after the fame brought by the movie “The Beach.” The closure is also for visitor safety during the monsoon season.
